Emerging Church mind-cookers

The more I prepare for this class on Emerging Church, the more exciting, scared, and filled with wonder I become. An entirely new way of thinking is totally "cooking my noodle" as they say, but at the same time, the Holy Spirit is continuing to tell me "this is OK."
The theology is a little spotty in places, but the missional side of it is tremendous. Yes, its a critique of how we do church now, but its much more than that. This is exciting me to think that we may have a new arsenal to reach the world the the loving message of Jesus...and how He is out to save the world.
There's always growing pains when new things come down the pike. Part of the Emerging Church challenge is making our church applicable and relevant to the community around us. As we make some changes at church, yeah, it might be difficult to accept something different at first, but in the end, what's best for the world needs to be what's best for our church.
I love how our Angel Food ministry ties right in to a postmodern mindset; by allowing people to experience Christ and the Kingdom through the lives and testimonies of our church people. I can't help but think its not necessarily about "how many souls are saved," but more about "how many lives were influenced positively." THAT'S EXCITING!!!

you said "The theology is a little spotty in places, but the missional side of it is tremendous". Christ never calls for compromise. Whose spirit are you listening to? "Did God really say you would die?" said satan to Eve. When we twist God's Word to fit our motives they are no longer God's word.
